Manitowoc, a globally recognized lifting equipment manufacturer that builds Grove-branded cranes, recently announced that its Grove GMK4100L-1 all-terrain crane is proving a popular choice among contractors, rental providers, and crane operators. Since its introduction in Q3 2016, the company has sold 100 of the versatile machines.

    Just The Right Crane

The 100th Grove GMK4100L-1 was purchased by Sollevamenti Mancini, which is a Tuscany, Italy-based rental company that currently operates a fleet of mobile cranes and aerial platforms. According to one of the company’s owners, Fiorenzo Mancini, “We chose the GMK4100L-1 for its compact dimensions, great performance, and superior power.” If you’ve ever driven through Tuscany, then you were probably flummoxed by streets that are only wide enough to allow a pair or horse-drawn carriages to pass one another. The Grove GMK4100L-1’s narrow carrier width (8.4 feet, or 2.6 meters), compact tailswing, and overall length (44 feet, or 13.4 meters, including the auxiliary hoist) were all major factors in the Mancini’s decision.

    More Benefits

Other benefits that are sure to please the rental outfit’s customers include the GMK4100L-1’s 100-ton (90.7-metric-ton) capacity, its classification as a public road-capable taxi crane, and the best load charts in its class. Another highlight of this crane is the nearly 200 foot (60.9-meter)-long MEGAFORM boom and maximum tip height of 292 feet (89 meters), which gives it a reach similar to that of bulkier and less maneuverable cranes. The GMK4100L-1’s single engine design enables the crane to handle up to 6.7 tons (6.1 metric tons) of counterweight within 12 tons (10.9 metric tons)-per-axle weight limits. Grove’s crane also supports Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CCS) and MAXbase variable outrigger positioning technology.

If you’re in the market for new or used Grove cranes, CraneTrader.com offers a large selection, including used Grove all-terrain cranes and used Grove GMK4100-series cranes for sale.
