Manitowoc, a globally recognized lifting equipment manufacturer that builds Grove-branded cranes, is bringing something new to the company’s annual promotional event, Crane Days 2018. The Grove GMK4090 has many features that the firm’s customers want from a lightweight, flexible taxi crane in the 100-ton (91-metric-ton) capacity class.

    Best In Class

Grove’s name is practically synonymous with all-terrain cranes, so it comes as no surprise that the new GMK4090 offers the strongest taxi load chart in its class.

The GMK4090 has a six-section MEGAFORM boom that extends to 167 feet (51 meters), Grove’s TWIN-LOCK pinning system, a 49-foot (15-meter) bi-fold swing-away jib with support for a 20-foot (6-meter) boom extension, and a maximum 20.2-ton (18.3-metric-ton) counterweight. The crane can also haul up to 10 tons (9.1 metric tons) to the job site unassisted, to help reduce transport costs. The new crane’s axel distances are fully compliant with U.S. bridge laws, letting you use the GMK4090 as a taxi crane.

    Uniquely Qualified

At just 8.4 feet wide, the new Grove crane features a sleek compact design, which makes it easy for an operator to maneuver the crane into position at the job site. Setup options have also improved thanks to the new available MAXbase outrigger system, which lets the crane handle more capacity and supports deployment even on irregular and uneven ground. Another highly sought-after feature of the GMK4090 is its 11.6-foot (3.5-meter) minimum tail swing, which is within the maximum outrigger width, meaning it can get the job done in tighter spaces than other, similar models.
