Grove RT550Es Get A New Home
Manitowoc just announced that one of its rough-terrain cranes has a new customer. The Basilicata, Italy,-based contractor, Officine Dandrea, was looking for a compact, maneuverable rough-terrain crane with superior lifting performance at height, and the company found exactly what it needed in the Grove RT550E.
The Perfect Fit
Dandrea operates primarily in the petrochemical industry and is accustomed to working in tight spaces with a lot of activity. As such, it needed a rough-terrain crane that can fit where most others cannot. The Grove RT550E, according to owners Giacomo and Nicola Dandrea, is capable of lifting loads in a powerful yet small package, which reduced the company’s total cost of ownership for these machines. The Dandreas love the cranes so much they bought four of them.
Another feature that made the Grove RT550E so attractive is the Manitowoc Crane Control System, which lets the operator use a joystick to perform all crane functions, including turning, hoisting, boom telescoping, and jib operation. The operator can also tweak response curves and operating speeds.
The Grove RT550E features a 45-ton (41-metric-ton) capacity, and a 128-foot (39-meter) boom. Furthermore, the rough-terrain crane’s approximate 39-foot (12-meter) length, 8-foot (2.4-meter) width, and 29-ton (26.3-metric-ton) weight make it suitable for a majority of European roads.
