W.O. Grubb Reaches New Heights With The Manitowoc MLC300
Industrial crane manufacturer Manitowoc is receiving rave reviews from customers of its MLC300 lattice boom crawler crane. Richmond, Virginia,-based equipment rental firm W.O. Grubb includes a number of MLC300s in its 80-plus fleet of crawler cranes and says they are all booked through the beginning of 2019.
Versatile & Powerful
The popularity of the Manitowoc MLC300 is largely due to the machine’s impressive specifications, which include a 386-ton (350-metric-ton) lifting capacity, a 137.8-foot (42-meter) fixed jib, a 315-foot (96-meter) main luffing jib, and a 334.6-foot (102-meter) main boom. According to construction site crews, the machine is very easy to set up and operate.
Variable Position Counterweight
One of the primary applications that W.O. Grubb’s customers are using the MLC300 for is tilt-up construction. Michelle Grubb-Solaimani, CFO of W.O. Grubb, is particularly appreciative of the crane’s VPC-MAX attachment, which she says simplifies crane movement on site and saves setup time between lifting jobs. “We used to have to use cranes with counterweight wagons for these jobs, but the MLC300 can handle the work without the additional costs of transporting a wagon and all the matting work that goes with it,” Grubb-Solaimani says. “There’s a good reason why our customers now request the MLC300 by name.”
