Swiss crane manufacturer Liebherr is helping Gruas Aguilar update its fleet of cranes to meet the demands of its customers. The Spain-based crane and heavy haulage rental outfit, currently celebrating 50 years in the business, is acquiring seven new Liebherr cranes with lifting capacities up to 1,322 tons (1,200 tonnes).

    A Fresh Fleet

The seven new Gruas Aguilar cranes from Liebherr consist of the LTM 11200-9.1, LR 1600/2-W, LTM 1230-5.1, LRT 1100-2.1, LTC 1050-3.1, and two LTM 1130-5.1 cranes. Each model offers unique advantages that the company’s customers will appreciate. The LTM 11200-9.1, for instance, is the largest telescopic crane sold in Spain, so it’ll be in high demand for a variety of large-scale jobs. The LRT 1100-2.1 is the first of Liebherr’s new series of rough-terrain cranes to make it to the country. The LTM 1230-5.1 is a 5-axle crane with a 246-foot (75-meter) telescopic boom that was only recently launched by the crane manufacturer. For the company’s smaller-scale jobs, the Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1 compact mobile crane with a 55-ton (50-tonne) maximum load capacity, is the ideal option. The pair of LTM 1130-5.1 cranes that Gruas Aguilar purchased offer a variable boom system that features a 197-foot (60 meters) telescopic boom, and an impressive maximum hoist height of up to 300 feet (91 meters).

    Liebherr Opens Doors

According to Luis Aguilar, Managing Director at Gruas Aguilar, “We have been interested in the characteristics of the LR 1600/2-W for years, particularly its mobility on site and its lifting capacity.” Liebherr’s LR 1600/2-W is a narrow-track crawler crane with a 660-ton (600-tonne) lattice boom that has been customized to tackle erection and maintenance activities on wind farm turbines. Aguilar continued, “[The LR 1600/2-W] will make an important contribution to our new wind power division which we are currently establishing in our company.”

    The After Effect

With any new machine, after-sale support and service has a big impact on the transaction. Liebherr is well aware of this fact, and the firm has proven to Gruas Aguilar that the companies are in it together for the long haul. “Liebherr personnel are always there for us. They provide support and solutions to the challenges we face. Spare parts deliveries are always fast and reliable. Liebherr’s after-sales service is genuine added value,” said Aguilar.
