PALFINGER Releases Its First Crawler Crane In Three Variants

    Posted On: November 16, 2018

PALFINGER has released its first crawler crane model, the Crawler Crane PCC. The machine is available in PCC 57.002, PCC 71.002, and PCC 115.002 variants ranging from 105-foot (32-meter) to 117.5-foot (35.8-meter) maximum lift heights. (Photo courtesy of PALFINGER.)

PALFINGER, an Austria-based manufacturer of lifting, loading, and handling equipment for commercial vehicles, recently announced it has released its first crawler crane model, the Crawler Crane PCC available in PCC 57.002, PCC 71.002, and PCC 115.002 variants. PALFINGER is making workman baskets, vacuum lifters, pipe manipulators, and grippers available for the models. The 71.002 and 115.002 are available now, while the 57.002 is set for spring 2019 availability. PALFINGER also offers knuckleboom cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, EPSILON forestry and scrap cranes, aerial work platforms, pick-up lifts, PAL Pro mechanic trucks, hoists, hooklifts, and more for sale.

    Diversity On Display

PALFINGER says that with the PCC, it’s the first crane manufacturer to offer both the crane and crawler from a single source. The machine’s crawler, crane, and counterweight modules, it says, can be “individually combined and operated optimally for a diverse array of tasks.” Furthermore, the PCC provides power but also the flexibility to access locations that conventional trucks with cranes can’t. “On difficult terrain, for example, when constructing power lines or cable lifts, helicopter transport is normally the only alternative to a truck-mounted crane,” says Michael Hagenauer, head of product division crawler cranes. “With the PCC, such jobs can be completed safely, efficiently, and inexpensively.”

PALFINGER says the PCC only needs 6.6 to 72.2 feet (2 to 22 meters) of clearance width without the crawler and only 7.2 to 8.2 feet (2.2 to 2.5 meters) of passenger height. Additionally, in a process known as “shifting,” the PCC’s crane module can propel itself on its stabilizers without the crawler. That enables the system to move “through extremely low and confined spaces,” as well as be loaded into a container without the crawler. Operators can also mount the machine on a transport truck if necessary.

    Reach & Capacity

While the PCC 57.002 offers a maximum 96.8-foot (29.5-meter reach), 105-foot (32-meter) maximum lift height, and 39,462.7-pound (17,900-kilogram) maximum lift capacity, the more powerful PCC 71.002 tops out at a 103.7-foot (31.6-meter) reach, 111.5-foot (34-meter) maximum lift height, and 42,108-pound (19,100-kilogram) maximum lift capacity. The high-end PCC 115.002 provides a 109.3-foot (33.3-meter) top reach, 117.5-foot (35.8-meter) maximum lift height, and top 66,138.7-pound (30,000-kilogram) lift capacity.

If you’re in the market for any type of crane, CraneTrader.com has thousands of new and used models for sale, including many PALFINGER cranes as well as crawler cranes from numerous manufacturers.
