Potain, a subsidiary of Manitowoc Cranes, featured its Hup 40-30 and Igo M14 self-erecting cranes at ARTIBAT 2018, which ran October 24-26 in Rennes, France. “Potain is well known for self-erecting crane innovation and we offer the most versatile crane ranges on the market, from the largest of tower cranes down to these easily transportable Igo self-erecting models,” says Jean-Pierre Zaffiro, product director, self-erecting cranes at Potain. “Presenting these cranes at ARTIBAT is an opportunity to highlight our wide range of solutions and to show contractors the ease of use and transportability of self-erecting models.”

    Potain Hup 40-30

The Hup 40-30 self-erecting crane, which made its debut at the event, has a maximum capacity of 4.4 tons (4 metric tons), radius of 131 feet (40 meters), maximum tip capacity of 1.1 tons (1 metric ton), and hook height of 98 feet (30 meters). A major benefit of the Hup 40-30 is that a single operator can control it remotely with the help of Smart Set-up software included with the crane. The other self-erecting crane in the Hup lineup is the Hup 32-27, which features the same max capacity and max tip capacity, but has a 105-foot (32-meter) radius and hook height of 89 feet (27 meters).

    Potain Igo M 14

Potain’s Igo M series cranes are more compact and well-suited for working on jobsites with space constraints. The Igo M 14, specifically, a 2-ton (1.8-metric ton) maximum capacity, 72.2-foot (22-meter) radius, 0.7-ton (0.6-metric ton) maximum tip capacity, and a 62.3-foot (19-meter) hook height. Like the Hup 40-30, you can remotely control the Igo M 14, and it only takes one operator to run it. In addition to this more compact lineup, there are larger options available within the Igo series, including the Igo T 130, which has a max capacity of 8.8 tons (8 metric tons), radius of 164 feet (50 meters), max tip capacity of 1.5 tons (1.4 metric tons), and a hook height of 122.4 feet (37.3 meters).
