Manitowoc’s Shuttlelift SCD15 will return to The Rental Show in Anaheim, California, having debuted at the 2017 show in Orlando, Florida just two years ago.

“We’ve made a number of enhancements to the crane over the last several years that have made it easier to use and provided more comfort for operators,” says Manitowoc’s vice president of sales for National Crane and Industrial Cranes, Mike Heinrich. “Also, the redesigned platform has made the machine lighter, which enables for greater maneuverability while delivering best-in-class load charts.”

The company says that it designed the 15-ton (13.6-metric ton), carrydeck crane for rental use. “The SCD15 has become one of the most popular cranes in the industrial crane market,” Heinrich adds.

The Rental Show 2019 will run February 17 to 20 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

    Enhancements

Manitowoc built the SCD15 to have a roomier cab than earlier models—nearly 5 inches (12.7 centimeters) wider, the company says. Its enclosed cab option, meanwhile, comes with a split door and a sliding glass window.

The company also highlights the SCD15’s full-color, graphical RCL (Rated Capacity Limiter). You can set the crane’s maximum boom angle, boom length, boom radius, rated load, and calculated load according to the parameters of the job.

A full complement of LEDs provides reliable, efficient light, and the SCD15 provides ample storage for the downhaul, headache ball, and more.

    Specs

The standard SCD15 comes with a 41-foot (12.5-meter), three-section, full-power boom, but a four-section, 50-foot (15.2-meter) boom and a 15-foot (4.6-meter) fixed swingaway extension are available as options. The boom nose can mechanically pivot down to 40 and 80 degrees when necessary.

North American models can come with a 74-horsepower (55.2-kilowatt) Cummins turbo diesel that attains Tier 4 Final emissions compliance without an SCR or DEF. There’s also a dual-fuel, 108-horsepower (80.5-kilowatt) GM V6 available from the factory.
