Liebherr Moves Into New US Headquarters
Crane and heavy-equipment manufacturer Liebherr has officially opened its $60 million, expanded U.S. headquarters in Newport News, Virginia. The five new buildings on the 30-acre (12-hectare) lot include a maintenance shop large enough to service cranes of any size, as well as concrete pump trucks, dozers, excavators, loaders, and other machinery.
“Apart from investing in research and design for cutting-edge technology, we have a long-term focus with respect to our business and the relationships with our customers,” says Liebherr USA Co. Managing Director Torben Reher. “We want to grow together and our new site is the evidence for this approach. We are preparing for the future while investing in our customers’ success.”
On-Site Training
Liebherr’s U.S. operations are responsible for nine product divisions. The company says that the new facility will help it produce and prepare equipment, distribute parts, and support its products more capably. The new buildings will also allow Liebherr to provide its in-house dealers, dealer technicians, and customers with hands-on training on actual machinery.
The new headquarters comprises a 60,000-square-foot (5,575-square-meter) four-story administrative building, an 82,000-sq ft. (7,620-sq m) workshop with a two-story training center, a 92,000-sq ft. (8,550-sq m) parts warehouse with a retail aspect, a wash bay facility, and a guardhouse.
