Updates To 2021 Caterpillar 7495 Mining Shovels Increase Efficiency & Lower Operating Costs
Caterpillar is adding multiple, standard feature upgrades to the 2021 model year 7495 and 7495 HF Electric Rope Shovels (ERS) that can increase operating efficiency up to 10%. The iconic yellow iron company also announced component enhancements, increased frame durability, and improved serviceability that can reduce the cost per ton of material moved by as much as 15%.
Drive Updates
Cat says it has created a new propel gear case for the 7495 and 7495 HF with nearly double the life the previous case in some extreme operating conditions. Precise adjustments to gearing geometry and Cat’s advancements in tooth hardening enhance gear case durability and productivity, and can result in a lower total cost of ownership by as much as $8 per hour. The 7495 AC electric drive systems also feature a liquid-cooled motion regulator cabinet that efficiently dissipates heat generated by electrical components to enable operations at greater temperature ranges and altitudes without derating.
New Technology Brings Greater Efficiency
The 7495 and 7495 HF come standard with Product Link Elite, which transmits critical machine operating data via cellular signal or site internet connection. The advanced productivity tools within Product Link Elite enable a cycle segmentation algorithm, and the combined data allows for advanced analysis of productivity. Operators can also receive real-time feedback from Cat MineStar to improve loading efficiency, and the available MineStar Terrain uses guidance technology and an in-cab display to deliver precise dipper position guidance. The 7495 mining shovels feature a new adaptive control system (ACS) called HydraCrowd that delivers up to 25% cost savings on the ACS valve. HydraCrowd’s efficient design also results in up to 5% lower total cost of ownership for the entire system.
“Consistently, our customers tell us machine availability and productivity are primary contributors to their operation’s success,” says ERS Product Value Stream Manager Dan Wyatt. “From the full adaptive control system for HydraCrowd to more innovative technology and data security, the advances made to the 2021 electric rope shovels reflect our commitment to meeting their needs. Many of these improvements are compatible with shovels in the field, so customers can realize these gains through upgrades to their existing fleets as well as new machine purchases.”
