Manitowoc Potain MR 618 Tower Crane Building A Hong Kong Cancer Hospital
Downtown Hong Kong doesn’t offer the most physical space for a construction project. Skyscrapers stand shoulder-to-shoulder in this densely populated city. That’s why Yau Lee Building Construction and Decoration opted for a compact, capable Manitowoc Potain MR 618 top slewing tower crane for its new project in the area. Yau Lee is the main contractor assigned to build a new private hospital / cancer treatment center on the Island.
Going Vertical
The Potain MR 618 has a 35.3-ton (32-metric ton) lifting capacity. The luffing jib has a maximum length of 197 feet (60 meters). It’s been engineered to build very tall structures in the tightest of spaces, according to Manitowoc. It also comes with a new onboard control system to help you start work quickly after assembly.
Yau Lee initially set up the crane at a 107.6-foot (32.8-meter) working height to begin construction on the hospital. By the time the project is finished—it has a September 2020 completion goal—the MR 618 will be operating at a height of 334 feet (101.8 meters).
Sourcing The Crane
The contractor once again turned to Manta Engineering and Equipment in Hong Kong to rent the Potain crane. “We have been using Potain cranes for many of our projects. As soon as we took on this project, we started talking to Manta about the right crane to use,” said a Yau Lee spokesperson. “We’ve always had a great relationship with the company and the guys make sure we stay on schedule by giving us excellent customer support.”
CraneTrader.com offers a variety of new and used Potain cranes for sale, including tower cranes such as those in the MR Series.
