Manitowoc To Reveal Six New Grove & Potain Cranes At bauma 2019
Six brand-new Grove and Potain cranes will make their first appearances at the Manitowoc booth at bauma 2019. The trade fair is scheduled for April 8 to 14 at the Messe München in Munich, Germany. The new Grove models will be all-terrain and rough-terrain cranes, while the Potains will be topless and self-erecting Hup tower cranes.
“Since we became a standalone crane company nearly three years ago, we have bolstered our new product pipeline, developing products that our customers want to purchase,” says Manitowoc’s president and CEO Barry Pennypacker.
The Grove GMK3060L
Currently the only new crane with any details available is the new GMK3060L from Grove. The three-axle, all-terrain crane was developed with input from users and buyers through the Voice of the Customer program. The GMK3060L will replace the company’s earlier GMK3060 model.
“We launched the GMK3060 at bauma 2013, and it has been a great success for us,” says Manitowoc’s global product director for all terrain cranes, Andreas Cremer. “The new GMK3060L takes that crane and makes it even better by providing a longer boom, stronger load charts, fast operating speeds, and a powerful yet more environmentally friendly engine.”
The new Grove GMK3060L’s 7-section TWIN-LOCK hydraulic pinned main boom measures 157.5 feet (48 meters), or 16.5 feet (5 meters) longer than its forebear. It shares the same compact chassis, however, fitting three axles in nearly the same space as a two-axle carrier, according to Manitowoc.
Moreover, the new GMK3060L has “significantly stronger” load charts and the best taxi load charts in its class, the company says. The crane is powered by a 340-horsepower (254-kilowatt) Cummins QSL9 diesel that’s compliant with either Euromot III/Tier 3 or Euromot V/Tier 4 Final engine emission standards, depending on customer requirements. Its automatic gearbox provides 12 forward speeds and two in reverse.
Assisting setup and/or load capacity are Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CCS), a boom configurator feature, and the optional MAXbase outrigger system.
