Terex Sells Boom Truck Crane, Crossover Product Lines To Load King
Load King has acquired Terex’s boom truck, telescopic truck crane, and Crossover product lines for an undisclosed sum, along with their associated assets and parts business.
“The addition of the boom truck, truck crane, and Crossover product lines will enhance our customer value proposition of providing a one-stop shop for customized heavy equipment and service,” said Fred Ross, CEO of Load King’s parent company, Custom Truck One Source. Load King also makes water tanks, dump bodies, roofing conveyors, and service truck bodies, as well as lowboy, end dump, and other trailers.
“This announcement marks the latest chapter in a resurgence at Load King, which, since becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Custom Truck One Source in December of 2015, has proudly resumed a leading position in the industry,” Ross said.
Smoothing The Transition
Terex Chairman and CEO John L. Garrison said, “By focusing on businesses where we have a strong market position, we can efficiently concentrate our improvement efforts to maximize value for our customers, team members and shareholders.” Terex previously announced its sale of Demag Mobile Cranes to Tadano just two months ago.
Terex “will continue to sell parts to our boom truck, truck crane, and Crossover customers during an expected one-year transition period,” Garrison explained. Terex will also continue to honor warranty claims on the products it has built, according to Load King.
“Customers can be assured that we will continue to sell parts and provide support to rough terrain, tower crane, and other legacy crane products,” Garrison continued. “We are investing in parts inventory and improving our operations to better serve these important customers.”
Terex will remain in the rough terrain and tower crane businesses, he said. The company builds them in its Crespellano and Fontanafredda, Italy facilities, respectively.
Going Forward
Load King plans to start shipping crane packages under its own brand from its Kansas City campus in September of this year, with options (some of which were discontinued by Terex in the past) to follow in early 2020. The new owner also said it plans to come up with new crane configurations in the near future.
