Hiab To Make Connected Services Support A Standard Feature

Hiab has announced plans to equip all of its new electronically controlled machinery with Connected Services support at the factory, starting in the second half of this year. The company’s knuckle boom cranes, hooklifts, and other machinery will come standard with the technology to make use of remote features such as Hiab’s HiConnect telematics.

“With connectivity our customers will get future-proof equipment,” says Hiab Cranes Senior Vice President, Joakim Andersson. “It will also allow us to develop new data-driven offerings and better cranes in the future to enhance customer value and benefits.”

Remote Monitoring

Many recent Hiab machines already come with the ability to record data about their usage and status. Without HiConnect, that data remained stored in the machine, only accessible to service technicians.

With the connectivity HiConnect provides, however, owners and fleet managers can access that critical information at any time from anywhere. A dashboard view displays information on each machine using overviews and graphs.

Using HiConnect, you can monitor the productivity of each unit, and note any safety concerns or opportunities to update an operator’s training. You can also anticipate scheduled maintenance and plan service dates when it’s most convenient. The real-time service also facilitates remote diagnostics and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.

Rollout

First to get standard Connected Services support will be new loader cranes from Hiab.

"Value chains are getting more and more integrated and data is now an important business enabler,” says Andersson. “We are therefore pleased to announce that all our Hiab Duo, HiDuo, and HiPro cranes will be connected on orders from June 2019 as a standard feature.”

The company plans to equip its new MULTILIFT hooklifts with Connected Services technology shortly thereafter. Over the next few years, Hiab intends to connect the rest of its load-handling equipment that possesses the technical components to make use of it.

Customers also have the option to retrofit their compatible, existing Hiab machinery with a kit available for order now.

"This is our most important cross-equipment investment ever," says Hiab's Vice President for New Business Solutions, Jan-Erik Lindfors. “It will accelerate our ongoing work of innovating our equipment offering, connected services, and new solutions to improve our customers' business.
