Manitowoc has built, sold, and shipped its one-thousandth Potain Igo T85 series self-erecting tower crane. Its factory in Charlieu, France manufactured the unit, which was sold to a customer in Benelux.

It took just 11 years for the company to sell 1,000 Igo T85-series cranes, or approximately 91 per year on average. The T85A variant debuted in 2011 with a third additional mast section and a new slewing system.

    Electric Hoisting Power

Manitowoc calls the Potain Igo T85A ideal for residential construction and jobs in small spaces. The 6.6-ton (6-metric-ton) crane can achieve a horizontal jib hook height of up to 125 feet (38 meters) with the addition of three optional, vertical, 20-foot (6-meter) inserts to its variable height, telescoping lattice mast. The mast by itself is 66 to 75 feet (20 to 23 meters) tall.

The Igo T85A has a 148-foot (45-meter) maximum jib radius. With its tip extended that far out, the crane can still lift a load of 1.5 tons (1.4 metric tons). With the jib angled at 30 degrees, the crane’s hook height increases to 148 feet (45 meters). The crane runs on 480-volt, three-phase, 60-Hz power.

Options for the Igo T85A include a cabled joystick to augment the standard wireless remote control with indicators, an UltraView raised cab, a removable hydraulic ballasting derrick arm; an electronic anemometer (wind speed meter), and a DOT-compliant North American highway axle kit with an attachable third axle.

Other self-erecting Potain cranes in the Igo T family are the 4.4-ton (4-metric ton) Igo T70A and the 8.8-ton (8-metric ton) Igo T130.
