Manitowoc Showcases New Potain Hup M 28-22 At Batimat
Mobility is the focus of Manitowoc’s new Potain Hup M 28-22, a 2.4-ton (2.2-metric-ton) self-erecting crane that made its debut at the Batimat construction and architecture industry show held in Villepinte near Paris, France, from November 4 to 8. The compact crane has a cutting-edge transport platform with dual steering axles. When folded for transport, the Hup M 28-22 is only 38 feet (11.6 meters) in length, making it easy to drive onto jobsites with limited space.
“As one of the best gathering places for the French construction industry, Batimat is the perfect place to officially launch the Hup M 28-22,” said Manitowoc’s sales director for tower cranes in France, Stéphane Giraudo. “Manitowoc always presents its latest self-erecting crane innovations at the trade show, and we know that the Hup M 28-22—with its small dimensions, ability to be deployed by one person and operated with our innovative Smart Set-up software—will be warmly received by the market.”
Capable & Versatile
The new Potain’s jib, which quickly extends and folds, gives the crane a 92-foot (28-meter) radius. It can be offset to 0, 10, 20, and 30 degrees. The crane can lift a maximum of 0.8 or 0.9 tons (700 or 850 kilograms) with the jib fully extended, and its ballast is the permanent type. Its hook height per base measures 64.3 feet (19.6 meters), and its height under hook range is between 65 feet (20 meters) and 101 feet (30.7 meters).
The manufacturer provides a remote-control system for the Hup M 28-22 with a big color display. Its two load charts, with 32 configurations total, gives the self-erecting crane an unusually high level of versatility in its category, according to Manitowoc. A slow, micro-speed feature enables precise hoisting, and new functions give the operator control over the steering wheels and hydraulic elevation of the crane.
On The Way
Manitowoc is now taking orders for the Hup M 28-22, which it previewed at the bauma 2019 show in Germany in April. The company expects deliveries to begin early next year.
