Potain unveiled its new MCT 275 topless crane this week in a virtual launch event at parent company Manitowoc’s production facility in Zhangjiagang, China. Inspired by the manufacturer’s recent MCT 325, the new crane is available in a K10 version with an 11-ton (10-metric-ton) lifting capacity and a K12 edition that can raise 13.2-ton (12-metric-ton) loads. It’s designed for easy transport and setup, Potain says, as well as for reliable, efficient operation.
“With the increasing popularity of precast concrete construction, topless cranes like the MCT 275 are becoming the go-to solution for the speed and simplicity they bring to jobsites,” says Manitowoc Regional Product Manager for Tower Cranes, Kwong-Joon Leong. “The topless design allows multiple units to overlap on-site and with the MCT 275 we’re giving customers a new choice in the 10- and 12-mt range. With its standout 70-meter jib, we believe this crane will appeal to a wide range of companies and projects.”
Specifications & Features
The Potain MCT 275 K10 and K12 have respective maximum hook heights of 207.7 ft (63.3 m) and 205.7 ft (62.7 m) per base. Their jib length can be extended from 97.1 to 229.7 ft (29.6 to 70 m) in 16.4-ft (5-m) increments. At the maximum jib length, the cranes can lift a respective 2.5 and 2.4 tons (2.3 and 2.2 mt). A SmartView Cab comes standard.
Like other cranes in Potain’s MC family, the MCT 275 can be mounted on the 6.6- by 6.6-ft (2- by 2-m) L68 mast system, on a chassis, in an internal or external climbing configuration, or with fixing angles for high-rise construction tasks. The company says the new crane can be set up in just a day and a half. Its upper portion is transportable in seven containers. The crane’s jib has a fast-assembly structure, and the tower head allows a quick pin connection to the jib and 55.8-ft (17-m) counter-jib. The complete jib and counter-jib can be set up in just four lifts, Potain says, and the crane’s safety devices are easy to access, calibrate, and adjust.
Optional Equipment
Potain offers a wide variety of options for the crane’s slewing, trolley, and hoisting mechanisms. Other options include a Vision Cab, air conditioning for both the cab and the hoist panel, an auxiliary winch, a wind speed gauge, automatic greasing for the slewing ring, and an inclined ladder for the masts.
Built in China, the MCT 275 will gradually replace the MC 235 hammerhead top-slewing model.
