100-Ton Grove GRT8100 Provides Heavy Lifting On Rough Terrain
Rough-terrain cranes are versatile machines on a jobsite. From lifting heavy loads and reaching areas that would be difficult for other equipment to efficiently hauling and placing materials to minimize construction time, these mobile cranes have a valued place on a wide variety of construction projects. And high-capacity, long-boom models such as the Grove GRT8100 offer even greater flexibility and can fill in for fixed-boom or crawler cranes on a jobsite.
The GRT8100: A Strong Load Chart
Grove’s GRT8100 features a 39.2 foot (12 meter) to 153.3 ft (47 m) five-section, full-power boom. Compared to previous Grove boom designs, the GRT8100’s MEGAFORM boom supports heavier loads throughout the load chart, improving functionality on the jobsite.
Manitowoc also offers the Grove 100-ton crane with an optional a bi-fold extension that can be configured in manual 33 ft (10 m) length or hydraulic 56 ft (17 m) length, and when combined with insert options, maximum tip height can reach 240 feet (73 m). The hoist lines, meanwhile, can pull more than 17,000 pounds (7,711 kilograms) on both the main and auxiliary hoists—strong pulls that help to optimize productivity on the jobsite.
Technologically Advanced
Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CCS) interface provides operators with a user-friendly design for intuitive control. In the GRT8100, operators can control the crane from two full graphic displays mounted vertically, while a job dial simplifies navigation and data input. And to improve operator usage, CCS allows the controllers to be reprogramed. A rated capacity limiter display shows the position of the boom, as well as the load, capacity, and percentage of maximum capacity to improve safety during operation.
Less Time For Setup & Disassembly
The 100-ton (90-tonne) rough terrain crane offers four hydraulic telescoping double-box beam outriggers with three position settings (0%, 50%, and fully extended), controlled by the CCS. Grove includes a boom extension stowing system for both the hydraulic and offsettable jib options, said to reduce stowage time by up to 60% over previous-generation Grove cranes.
The relatively compact carrier design, quick setup, and flexible access of the rough-terrain crane open the GRT8100 to use in petrochemical, construction, and wind power industries where both working range and overall capacity are key.
