Potain has introduced the new Igo T 99 telescopic self-erecting tower crane, a 6.6-ton (6-metric-ton) model that provides enhanced reach and capacity over previous models but with the same compact footprint. The crane’s 157-foot (48-meter) reach combines with transport-friendly dimensions and an innovative unfolding process to create what Manitowoc describes as an ideal solution for jobsites with limited work space.

“The impressive capacity and reach from this compact crane will enable customers to bid for and complete more jobs, as its travel and onsite dimensions make the crane easy to transport and ideal for jobsites with tight working conditions,” Manitowoc states.

For transport purposes, the Potain T 99 measures just 51.3 feet long and 13.1 ft high if fitted with 50-mph axles. (Photo courtesy of Manitowoc.)

    Transport-Friendly

During transport, the Igo T 99 measures just 51.3 ft (15.65 m) long and 13.1 ft (4 m) high when fitted with 50-mph (80-km/h) axles. Manitowoc notes that the T 99 is compatible with current Igo- and Igo T-series transport axles, providing owners with more than one Igo in their fleets added versatility. On the jobsite, the crane has a functional footprint of just 14.7 x 14.7 ft (4.5 x 4.5 m); a new unfolding mechanism lets the crane deploy from the top after the base is erected, allowing for set up in narrow spaces near buildings.

The Igo T 99 can work with any of six jib lengths from 104 to 157 ft (31.7 to 48 m), and owners can add three additional mast sections to provide seven working heights from 67.2 to 126 ft (20.5 to 38.5 m). The crane can lift 1.65 t (1.5 mt) at the tip when the jib is extended to 147 ft (44.8 m) and 1.3 t (1.2 mt) when using 157 ft of jib. The T 99 has a 126-ft height-under-hook reach and a 185-ft (56.5-m) reach with the jib raised to 30 degrees.

Manitowoc says its new Potain Igo T 99 self-erecting crane offers enhanced reach and lifting capacity over previous models but with the same compact footprint, making it ideal for jobsites where space is tight. (Photo courtesy of Manitowoc.)

    The T 99 Up Close

Manitowoc says operators can fully erect and decommission the T99 using a remote control complete with a colour screen that provides step-by-step progress indicators. The remote control can also be used to execute lifting operations. An Operator Control Function lets users configure three driving profiles to customize crane control to their preferences. There’s also a choice of Ultra View and Ultra View Light cabs, both of which include the Manitowoc Crane Control System.
