Tadano Introduces The AC 4.070(L)-1, A Four-Axle, 75-Ton Compact All-Terrain Crane

    Posted On: July 19, 2021

Tadano has announced a new naming convention for its cranes, and the new AC 4.070(L)-1 all-terrain crane is one of the first cranes to adhere to the standard. (Photo courtesy of Tadano.)

Tadano’s new AC 4.070(L)-1 is an all-terrain crane named as the successor to the company’s ATF-70G-4, also a four-axle all-terrain crane with a lifting capacity of 75 tons (70 metric tons). The AC 4.070(L)-1 is available in two boom lengths, including a six-section 171-foot (52-meter) main boom that can lift 12,786 pounds (5,800 kilograms) with the boom fully extended and the maximum counterweight installed. Operators can also select a 144-ft (44-m) main boom.

    New On The AC 4.070(L)-1

The AC 4.070(L)-1 features EU Stage V engines. The carrier engine is a Mercedes-Benz OM 470 LA (456 horsepower, 340 kilowatts), and the superstructure engine is a Mercedes-Benz OM 934 LA (175 HP, 130 kW). Tadano also adds a ZF TraXon transmission, which supports rock-free and hill start assist functions to better maneuver the crane. Tadano’s AML-F crane control system provides the AC 4.070(L)-1 with an automatic lifting capacity selection function, and the crane can also initiate the optimal extension sequence for each radius by itself, thanks to Tadano Lift Adjuster. Tadano says its AML-F technology reduces setup time and increases safety.

    Versatile By Design

The AC 4.070(L)-1 provides contractors with considerable jobsite flexibility. There’s a main boom extension to add reach from 29.5 to 52.5 ft (9 to 16 m), and Tadano provides manual or stepless hydraulic adjustments when the crane is angled between 0 and 40 degrees. Need to limit weight on the road? Tadano allows operators to divide the counterweight, and the company says that when traveling without the main boom extension (and 9,700 pounds of counterweight), the AC 4070(L)-1 fits under the 11-t (9.9-mt) axle load limit. The crane can travel with up to 26,900 lbs (12,200 kg) of counterweight.
