Link-Belt Unveils 120 HT Telescopic Boom Truck Crane
Link-Belt’s CraneFest 2021 customer event, scheduled for the fall of 2021, will mark the public debut of the manufacturer’s new 120 HT, a 120-ton (110-metric-ton) hydraulic truck crane with air disc brakes and a Cummins X12 overhead-cam engine. The 120 HT benefits from Link-Belt’s strategic design approach, reducing the gross vehicle weight and increasing the load rating on the front steering axles (each supports 26,000 pounds (11,793 kilograms), while also increasing counterweight payload. The full counterweight on the 120 HT is 49,100 lbs (22,271 kg), and when compared to Link-Belt’s 110-t (100-mt) HTC-86110, counterweight payload increases from 16,000 to 20,500 lbs (7,257 to 9,268 kg).
Superior Ride Quality
The 120 HT borrows a number of design elements from Link-Belt’s 175 AT all-terrain crane, including its wide cab. To improve ride quality, increase braking performance, and reduce maintenance time, Link-Belt equips the crane with air disc brakes. The hydraulic truck crane also features an air ride suspension, which Link-Belt says is the first of its kind in a truck crane and the result of a collaborative process with suspension manufacturer Hendrickson International.
“Superior ride quality is going to be one of the first things anyone that’s ever driven in a truck crane before will notice,” says Link-Belt All-Terrain and Telescopic Truck Crane Product Manager Andrew Soper.
Reach & Rigging
The six-section boom offers a reach of 38.3 to 164.1 feet (11.6 to 50 meters), and Link-Belt provides additional flexibility in the form of either a two- or three-piece onboard offsettable fly. The two-piece fly provides reach from 35 to 58 ft (10.7 to 17.7 m), while the three-piece fly ranges from 9.5 to 35 to 58 ft. (2.9 to 10.7 to 17.7 m). Furthermore, the 120 HT comes with two 16-ft (4.9-m) lattice insert extensions, increasing the hydraulic truck crane’s maximum tip height to 261.7 ft (79.7 m).
