Visitors to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, home to the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals, will now be greeted with a 30- x 40-foot (9- x 12-meter) video board and new exterior stadium marquee installed by D Crane Rental. The Walton, Kentucky, company opted for Link-Belt’s 175 AT for the job, and Link-Belt’s 55-ft (16.8-m) three-piece offsettable SmartFly was a big contributing factor to the crane rental company’s selection of the all-terrain crane.

“Great craftsmanship on the SmartFly, I really like it, especially with the wireless remote, it is really easy to use,” says D Crane Rental operator Mark Dukes. “When we get in a tight city spot, and you’ve got walls or the canopy like we do here up high, having the SmartFly is very handy in an application like this.”

    Lift Away & Install

The 175 AT removed the previous video board and its old framework, and then installed the new video board that consisted of three 10- by 40-ft sections. The new video board is situated in direct line of sight of vehicles crossing the Brent Spence Bridge, which takes I-75 and I-71 over the Ohio River.

    More On The 175 AT

The 175 AT is equipped with a 197.3-ft (60-m) six-section boom and has a 315-ft (96-m) maximum tip height and a 23,622-pounds-force (105-kilonewton) maximum line pull. At a 7-ft (2.1-m) radius, the 175 AT can lift its full 175-ton (150-metric-ton) capacity. Link-Belt equips the crane with a 20-degree tilting cab with automatic heating and cooling and Bluetooth radio, and the manufacturer’s Counterweight Detection System. Buyers can choose from a variety of options, such as boom attachments including an up to 55-ft (16.8-m) lattice offering, Link-Belt’s multiple-camera Vision package, and a Lighting package for night work.
