National Crane Celebrates 75 Years In Business
Boom truck crane manufacturer National Crane is marking its 75th anniversary. The market-leading company plans to highlight its history, products, and employees this year via online and social media channels.
“We’re extremely proud to celebrate National Crane’s 75th anniversary with the brand’s loyal customer base,” says Aaron Ravenscroft, president and CEO of parent company Manitowoc.
Milestones & Innovations
National Crane was originally founded in 1947 in Nebraska as Burg Manufacturing by Marlo Burg. After the maker of agricultural weed sprayers added boom trucks to its portfolio, it changed its name in 1963 to National Crane. The company was acquired in 1978 by Grove and later by Manitowoc in 2002. In 2012, National Crane established its Truck Mod Center to build bespoke boom trucks to customer specifications.
National Crane has patented many lifting technologies over the decades and has produced several models boasting the greatest capacity in their classes. The company says its hydraulically removable counterweight systems have made lifting jobs easier and more efficient.
“It has been an incredible journey for National Crane, and we are confident that the future will bring continued success,” says Ravenscroft. “We would like to thank all the employees, customers, and crane operators that have contributed to the business over the years and look forward to the next 75 years and beyond.”
