GMVykon Brings Liebherr MK 88-4.1 Hybrid Power Mobile Crane To Mexico
Mexican crane company GMVykon partnered with Liebherr to bring the first MK 88-4.1 hybrid power mobile construction crane to the country—and to North America. The advantages of the crane go beyond power versatility, the Monterrey-based company says. It also provides true single-person control, from travel and assembly to operation. The operator can simply pull up to the site, unfold the crane with the push of a button, complete the job, and then dismantle the crane and go on to the next site. The new MK 88-4.1 joins a fleet of approximately 100 Liebherr machines that range in lifting capacity from 33.6 to 896 tons (30.5 to 813 metric tons).
“We’re impressed by the great MK series concept and want to introduce it to the Mexican market,” says GMVykon Managing Director José Victor Cortez, who was present at the crane’s official handover at Liebherr's Monterrey site.
About The MK 88-4.1
The MK 88-4.1 has a maximum lift capacity of 8.8 t (8 mt), a maximum hook height of 193 feet (59 meters) in the 45-degree luffed position, and a maximum radius of 147 ft (45 m). It has a jib head load capacity of 4,850 pounds (2,200 kilograms) and has a vertical tower that allows the crane to be erected at the exact spot it will be working. The crane’s hybrid power concept allows both all-electric operation or power through a diesel generator. The superstructure and undercarriage drives can run on hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), as well. Electric operation allows the crane to be employed in areas with emissions and noise restrictions. The MK 88-4.1 is easy to set up and does not require any additional transport vehicles or tools, increasing its efficiency even further.
For Liebherr, this sale was part of a larger push to introduce more of the MK line to Mexico. “We have provided our service technicians with extensive training specifically for this series so we can offer our customers a reliable and fast service for mobile construction cranes in Mexico,” says Christian Tableros, divisional director Liebherr México S. de R.L. de C.V.
This means that Liebherr is able to ensure efficient aftersales service. “As well as that, we are also in the process of setting up a spare parts warehouse for short response times, and we're working hard to further increase awareness of the MKs in Mexico,” Tableros continues.
