Hiab Debuts 135-TM Effer iQ Heavy Loader Crane For Urban Environments
Hiab has launched its new Effer iQ.1400 HP heavy loader crane with a lifting capacity in the 488.2 ton-force feet (135 tonne-meters) class. The crane’s compactness, power, 83-degree maximum working angle, and vertical reach of 129.6 feet (39.5 meters) make it well-suited for use in metropolitan areas.
“Customers will be able to experience a whole new level of heavy load lifting, with a crane that excels in vertical reach of over 39 meters,” says Marcel Boxem, vice president, Sales & Product Management, Loader Cranes Heavy & Super Heavy, Hiab. “The 135-tm range delivers performances similar to bigger segment cranes.”
Designed For Vertical Work
The Effer iQ.1400 HP’s V10-Force boom and jib have a decagonal profile, which first appeared in Hiab’s Effer 1000. The profile provides a high strength-to-weight ratio and reduces side oscillations. The 94 tf-ft (26-tm) jib helps the crane lift loads with an “up and over” capability of 85.3 ft (26 m).
The compact size and light weight of the Effer iQ.1400 HP can translate to lower operating costs, fuel consumption, and emissions, Hiab says. “The smaller frame makes it suitable for installations on smaller trucks and provides plenty of payload, not normally seen in this segment,” says Boxem. The crane can be set up to work closer to buildings where its vertical performance brings new potential to urban projects.
“The engineering, combined with a CombiDrive4 remote control from Olsbergs, gives operators unprecedented precision even at high heights,” Boxem says. Olsbergs also supplies the valve and hydraulics systems for the Effer iQ.1400 HP, which uses variable pumps for greater flow and lower power requirements. The new Effer has parts and controls in common with other Hiab iQ- and iX-series cranes to simplify fleet service requirements.
Advanced Control Functions
The Effer iQ.1400 HP uses Hiab’s SPACEevo control system, which helps new and experienced operators alike use the crane’s advanced capabilities. Among SPACEevo’s features is the Load Stability System for vertical movements, or LSS-V, which compensates if the operator mistakenly moves the levers too much during vertical operations. Variable Stability Logic Plus (VSL+) adjusts lifting capacity according to the positions and pressures of the truck’s outriggers, while the Dynamic Load Chart (DLC-S) estimates the load capacity before the stabilizers are deployed.
Hiab offers HiConnect Insights and HiConnect Premium levels of telematics/fleet management for the Effer iQ.1400 HP crane.
