Rough-terrain cranes is a category of machines for which Link-Belt is well known, and there are many new and used models currently available for sale at CraneTrader.com. These machines are dual-axle, off-highway cranes with oversized wheels and tires designed to keep a secure footing on various ground types.
Link-Belt's rough-terrain cranes range in maximum lift capacity from 50 to 160 tons (45.4 to 145 metric tons). The boom sections are available in four-, five-, and six-section configurations, with maximum lengths of between 110 and 195.3 feet (33.5 to 59.5 meters). Depending on the model, boom options can be either full power or pin and latch types. Maximum tip height starts at 168 feet (51.2 meters) and goes up to 311 feet (94.8 meters), however, all models support optional boom attachments that can extend the working envelope.
Two of the most common Link-Belt rough-terrain crane models you’ll find for sale on CraneTrader.com are the RTC-8090 and RTC-8090 Series II. Link-Belt has retired the original in favor of the Series II, but you’ll still find models on CraneTrader as recent as 2014 for the original RTC-8090. The oldest versions of this crane are from 2007. The RTC-8090 Series II also has models dating back to 2007, but most of the units on the site are model year 2008 and newer.
This 8090 range has a market-leading capacity for its class, up to 90 tons (81.6 metric tons), five-section pin and latch booms that spans up to 140 feet (42.7 meters), and maximum tip heights of 238 feet (72.6 meters). Optional boom attachments include a two-piece offsettable fly and two 16-foot (4.9-foot) extensions.
The latest models feature a full-power latching style boom; up to three 9,600-pound (4,354.5-kilogram) counterweights; greaseless self-lubricating Teflon pucks between the boom sections; a quartet of fly options with two-degree, 15-degree, 30-degree, and 45-degree offset positions; and a high visibility cab with comfortable amenities and optional integral air conditioning.
All of these machines come equipped with a 4-Link suspension on the rear axle, but Link-Belt offers a Hydro-Gas Ride system as an available option. Other features designed to simplify maintaining and operating the rough-terrain crane include four-mode steering, a full-length flat deck with integrated steps and handholds, large swing out engine hood doors, and built-in access ladders and folding guardrails.
