About Track Digger Derricks
A track digger derrick is a specialized construction vehicle that moves around on a set of tracks, or crawlers, and prominently features a boom-mounted auger on a rotating turret designed to dig holes for a number of industrial and utility applications. These machines are sometimes referred to as radial boom derricks.
Features Of Track Digger Derricks
They’re most often outfitted with one or more winches, outriggers on the sides for added stability while drilling, and pole claws and guides for lifting and setting utility poles. Other common applications include setting screw anchors, lifting and moving heavy materials, lifting personnel in buckets, and more. The term “digger derrick” is often used to describe both the machine that performs the digging, and the vehicle to which the crane-like component is attached. The boom of the digger derrick unfolds to increase the machine’s horizontal or vertical reach, then folds to make the machine easier to transport.
