    About Hiab

Hydrauliska Industri AB, also known as Hiab, has manufactured loader cranes since the 1940s. The Cargotec Corporation-owned company is based in Sweden and produced its first crane, the truck engine-powered Hiab model 192, in 1944 and went on to sell nearly 13,000 of them over the next 20 years. Since then, the company has grown into a leader in the crane market, developing products that serve a wide range of industries, including distribution, oil and gas, recycling, building supply, and forestry.

Hiab X-HiPro 558 Knuckle Boom Crane

    Knuckle Boom & Forestry Cranes

Most of Hiab’s cranes are knuckle boom models built to be mounted on trucks and used to load and unload cargo. Examples include Hiab’s T-DUO, T-HiDuo, XS, X-DUO, X-HiDuo, X-HiPro, and many others. The T-series knuckle boom loaders fit into Hiab’s light-duty lifting category where capacity ranges from 8,777 pounds-foot (11.9 kilonewton-meters) to 25,741 lbs-ft (34.9 kN-m). Hiab’s X-series loader cranes cover lightweight applications to the heaviest loads, highlighted by the X-Hi-Pro 1058 with a rated lift capacity of 592,262 lbs-ft (803 kN-m). Near the end of 2021, Hiab introduced its IQ crane series, including the iQ.1188 HiPro, with a rated capacity of 605,538 ft-lbs (821 kN-m).

    Intelligent Crane Features

Hiab knuckle boom cranes can be fitted with a selection of control systems, extensions, and jibs to fit the demands of your operation. For example, many T-series cranes can be configured with manual and/or remote control systems. Hiab’s IQ cranes utilize Hiab’s CombiDrive system with remote control and haptic feedback, as well as the ability to customize crane speed and crane reaction settings. The powerful X-series cranes can be fitted with hydraulic extensions or a jib to increase their reach and flexibility. For example, operators can configure the X-HiPro 1058 with up to eight extensions, resulting in a reach of 64.6 feet (19.7 meters), or a jib that expands the reach to 115 ft (35 m).

    Truck-Mounted Forklifts & Tail Lifts

In addition to loader, forestry, and recycling cranes, Hiab parent company Cargotec sells other machinery, including MOFFETT truck-mounted forklifts and ZEPRO, DEL, and WALTCO tail lifts, among other products. MOFFETT truck-mounted forklifts are often designed to handle specific types of jobs, including large forklifts for paved or off-road surfaces, rough-terrain forklifts, and compact machines equipped to negotiate tight spaces. MOFFETT’s M8 NX truck-mounted forklifts, for instance, can deliver heavy loads (7,716 pounds; 3,500 kilograms) on rough-terrain jobsites, while offering a compact design able to fit on most any truck or trailer. Hiab also sells LOGLIFT and JONSERED cranes that are built for use in the forestry and recycling industries.
